Nicole O'Regan has taken home first prize in the Daffodils at Rydal sculpture competition and was presented with a cheque of $1000 for her sculpture of a life sized emu, titled 'Advanced'.

Ms O'Regan said she was over the moon with gaining first prize with her sculpture which is welded together using hundreds of pieces of steel and took her many months to construct.
The competition sponsored by Energy Australia had Mick Hanly, from Mt Piper power station, on hand to present Ms O'Regan with the cheque.
Ms O'Regan took the opportunity to thank Energy Australia for sponsoring such a "wonderful event".
There were sixteen sculptures in total spread throughout Pioneer Park set amongst natural bush land and daffodil beds, creating yet another attraction at this year's festival.

The sculptures in the scrub coordinator Leann McLaren said that of the sixteen sculptures, each one was different and visitors to the park were extremely impressed by the local talent that was on show.
There was also a People's Choice prize of $250 from the Rydal Village Association.
This was won by Bathurst resident Daniel Martin, a budding young sculptor who is only 15, with his reindeer titled "The Flower Thief".
Mr Martin created his sculpture entirely out of farm scrap for Daffodils at Rydal and was thrilled with his win.
