THE winners of the LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sports Star of the Year Awards for January have been announced by Lithgow City Council.
Lithgow mayor Maree Statham announced Jaidyn Goodwin (basketball) as the winner of the junior award for January.
Jaiydn was selected in the under 18 boys state basketball team at the end of January.
He will travel to Adelaide in April to take part in the nationals.
The senior award for January was won by Amelia Leard (hockey).
Amelia won the gold medal at under 21 women’s national indoor championships at Wollongong.
“Council extends its congratulations to Jaidyn and Amelia on their achievements, and further encourages the community and local sporting organisations to submit nominations for these awards,” Cr Statham said.
Nominations for outstanding sporting achievements in December February 2016 will be accepted by Lithgow City Council until Monday.
